This is my submission for AECP Easy Ink Blending Techniques taught by Amy Lee. My personal focus for this class was to practice smooth blending as well as experimenting with different color palettes.Â
Techniques that I Applied from this Class
- Ink blending die cuts for more color variation and depth
- Adding a fading effect from dark to light on the background
- Layering ink for deeper color
- Blending colors together to create a new color
- Adding a pop of shine with gold and embellishments
I used the Garden Rose Craft-a-Flower.
Colors Used for the Yellow/Pink Flower
I received the kit for the upcoming Altenew Secret Garden Retreat and couldn’t wait to try these colors together. I was amazed at how only these colors blended so well for such a beautiful result.Â
Colors Used for the Blue Flower
For this flower I followed Palette 13 from the Altenew Color Inspiration Chart located on the Color Swatches page here. I enjoy using these color palettes to challenge me to try color combinations that I may not normally think of on my own.Â
Background and Sentiment
The sentiment is from the Altenew One-Go Birthday Greetings set. This is an excellent set for creating several sentiments in “one go”. I popped up the sentiment on both cards for added dimension.
I also like adding frames for a finished look. I used the Mix and Match Frames Die set for the blue flower and brushed gold strips for the yellow/pink rose.
I really enjoy adding splatter for additional interest. For the blue flower I added blue from the Sapphire ink as well as white. I also swiped the background with the Iceberg ink pad cube to add a little more texture.
For the yellow/pink flower I created a faded background starting with dark and then fading out to lighter blue. I layered Teal Tempest over Blue Horizon ink in the upper left corner to darken it a little more.
I really enjoyed ink blending and experimenting with color in this class and am looking forward to the next one! 🙂

Ah! The difference between those two color palettes, the soft hues against the and bold colors! Both cards look gorgeous.
