I am so excited to have started the Altenew Educator Certification Program! This is my first card for submission from the All About Layering 3 class taught by Lydia Evans. She is so creative and an excellent instructor!
Techniques that I Applied from this Class
- Layering Stamps
- Adding texture with an embossing folder
- Adding dimension by popping up the flowers and the panel
- Popped up sentiment by die cutting several layers and glueing them together
- Use of odd numbers of flowers for a more natural look
- Adding interest with gold and black splatter using the Altenew Jet Black and Antique Gold sprays
I chose the Garden Delights stamp set which is a fantastic layering set with so much versatility. I decided to use the large flower and ended up creating a 5″ x 7″ card so that I could add more beautiful flowers. 🙂 I used Altenew Obsidian Black pigment ink for a crisp dark outline.Â

Color Combinations Used for the Flowers
I tried many color combinations before landing on these. I decided that I wanted some very bold and vibrant colors to welcome in Spring. 🙂 I used the new Fresh Dye inks in the round containers as well as the Crisp Inks.Â

I added detail to the stamens with Espresso ink, an Altenew Fineline and the gold gel pen. I also added some colorful gems in the centers of the flowers to add some sparkle.Â
I used the Altenew Stampwheel so that I could stamp several images at once and also work on more than one layer by rotating the Stampwheel.Â

Background and Sentiment
To add texture to the background, I used the Natural Wicker 3D Pattern Embossing folder. This is a new one from the March 2024 release and I can see that this is going to be one of my favorites! I also put a thin frame of Altenew Brushed gold around the panel for additional interest.

The sentiment is from the Versatile Greetings set. I cut it out with Brushed Gold cardstock and then cut out an additional three layers for added depth and height. In this case I chose not to add the shadow die that comes with it but it is great to have that option.Â
I really enjoy adding spatter for additional interest. For this background I added black and gold. I also like to add frames for an additional finished look. In this case I thought that the brushed gold and coral colored cardstock worked nicely with this palette for a bright and vibrant vibe.Â

For added dimension, I raised the flowers using foam tape with various thicknesses.
This card was so much fun to make! I’m really looking forward to the next class! 🙂
